Instructions:
- Preheat the oven: Set oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Prepare the cheese base: Lay cheese slices flat on the parchment paper, ensuring they don’t touch each other.
- Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 5–7 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and edges just begin to brown and crisp.
- Season and layer: Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Place 3 pepperoni slices on each cheese round.
- Cool slightly: Let the cheese cool for about 30 seconds—just enough to firm slightly but still pliable for rolling.
- Roll and serve: Carefully roll each slice into a log while warm. Serve immediately with a side of warm marinara sauce if desired.
Variations :
- Spicy Kick: Add crushed red pepper flakes before baking for heat lovers.
- Herbaceous Touch: Tuck in fresh basil or oregano leaves before rolling for extra flavor.
- Different Meats: Swap pepperoni for cooked sausage crumbles or thin salami slices.
- Veggie Option: Add a strip of roasted bell pepper or mushroom for a vegetarian-friendly version.
Tips :
- Watch Closely: Cheese can go from melted to burnt quickly—check at the 5-minute mark and continue baking in 1-minute increments if needed.
- Rolling Timing: Roll while cheese is warm and flexible. If it firms up too much, pop it back into the oven for 15 seconds to soften.
- Storage: Leftovers can be refrigerated and gently reheated in the microwave or air fryer.
- Dipping Sauce: Marinara is classic, but garlic butter or pesto makes great alternatives for dipping.
